Silver, a facial rig example from the Advanced Facial tutorials.

I'm posting this now, just to let people know there is progress happening on Messiah tutorials. It's been a while since I released any new videos, and this one is taking especially long, mostly due to hard work at my job at disney, and a home repair/sell that is going on right now with my current house.

Silver is one of many different rigs on the Advanced Facial tutorials. The power of Messiah's Xform effect can be seen in the blending of different areas of the face. this is not done with the final rig, just done with the one I've recorded up to so far. He still has dynamic wrinkles and skeletal to go.

Traditional media still rocks.

Sheesh, it's taking a while to get the motor started on this thing. I never was very good at keeping journals. Here's one: I started playing with charcoal a month back and found out it wasn't as bad as I remember (images of using nails on the chalkboard come to mind) I've always been more of a Colored pencil/acrylic/graphite person in my early days using real media. what convinced me to try charcoal again was the artists at Avalanche. Every Friday, there is a figure drawing class in the morning, and watching some of these guys is very awe inspiring. within two hours, they produce some incredible shading and shapes. Adam ford, Brian Christensen, Ryan Wood, Jeremy Wood and others. They blog their stuff, so take a look at the links to the right to wander the Avalanche artists pages. Talent just oozes out of this company.
I like dinosaurs, and I had a pad of Bristol Board, so I decided to give it a go.

I feel I should spend some time pimping my stuff. If you glance to the right, there are two links, The one going to Cafepress are my instructional videos on using the software "Messiah:Studio", which is the link right below it. Why am I typing about something like that up here, even though the videos are years old? Because I don't have a web page, and google will make keywords out of it, so people can find out about this "under the radar" 3d app.

Project:Messiah was a plugin for Lightwave way back in the 5.5 and 6.0 days. It has since sprung to life in it's own stand-alone app for quite a few years now. Think of it as an animation/rendering package with nearly any modeling program as a plugin. It has been used in many films, shorts, and is a hidden tool of many lightwave/maya users. Over half of those purchasing the aforementioned tutorials are international, meaning the app itself has a very worldwide appeal. PMG (The folks behind messiah) have just updated the Demo software, so if you are into 3d animation, check it out. If you are a serious investigator, feel free to ask questions on the CGtalk.com forums.
